The Linden Hills Business Association celebrates the season with its annual Reindeer Day, 10am to 2pm on Saturday, December 1st.
Reindeer Day brings small-town holiday traditions to Linden Hills. For the first time, a free trolley will transport shoppers from 43rd and Upton Avenue South neighborhood to 44th and Beard, to the Linden Hills Co-op, and also to the Holly Trolley rides offered at Queen and Lake Harriet Blvd. (12:30-2pm).
“Linden Hills is home to the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line, one of the last working examples of the once extensive public transportation system that connected Minneapolis and St. Paul until 1954,” said Lisa MacMartin, owner of Heartfelt and president of Linden Hills Business Association. “Having a trolley transport shoppers around our village brings back the nostalgia mirrored by the Linden Hills neighborhood during the holidays.”
In addition to the trolley:
Singers will be caroling, Santa will be mingling with young shoppers, and the 43rd and Upton merchants will hold special in-store events.
The Association will be collecting donations for the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf.
Storyteller Sara Logan will be spinning tales at Heartfelt at 11am, and at Sebastian Joe’s at 1pm.
And what would Reindeer Day be without…live reindeer? Visit them outside Linden Hills Dentistry and the Linden Hills Co-op.
